AIA Dallas Under the Radar Exhibition

The AIA Dallas Under the Radar exhibit, displayed in 2013 and 2014 by the Small Firms Roundtable, highlights niche, underrecognized architectural portfolios. The exhibit gives smaller firms and sole practitioners the opportunity to showcase their projects while gaining exposure and valuable connections in the architectural space.

President Mahbuba Khan, as the chair of the Small Firms Roundtable, helped organize and curate the event. She designed the Under the Radar logo, reached out to small firms and architects to request portfolios, and put the jury board together. Mahbuba's goal was to highlight the work of the small firms that may not have the marketing resources to get the same reach as larger firms.

Mahbuba organized a jury exhibit, selecting 18 portfolios from 40 submissions to display. The exhibit was available for public viewing at the Dallas Center for Architecture for a full month, and received strong positive feedback from the Dallas architecture community.
